Traditional TaeKwonDo Near Elgin for Every Stage of Life

Elgin families do not all need the same martial arts class. A preschool beginner, a growing teen and an adult starting for the first time each need instruction built for a different stage. Blackhawk TaeKwonDo provides separate age-specific programs with one consistent standard, personally taught by 7th Dan Grandmaster Anthony Iannone and 4th Dan Master Cristina Iannone.

One full week. No pressure. No automatic enrollment.

The program should change as the student grows

Martial arts instruction works best when the expectations, language and pace match the person standing on the mat. That is why Blackhawk does not force preschoolers, school-age students, teens and adults into one generic experience.

Our school is located at 2333 Randall Road in Carpentersville, not in Elgin. Families travel to one established location where each age group receives its own program while the school maintains the same traditional curriculum, leadership and culture.

Because Elgin covers a broad area, travel time varies by neighborhood and traffic. We recommend checking your route and using the full trial week to decide whether both the instruction and the weekly routine fit your household.

A Continuing Activity for Elgin Students

Traditional TaeKwonDo Beyond the School Day

Elgin is large, and families have many short term activities, franchise programs and martial arts styles to compare. Blackhawk is for families who value a continuing Traditional TaeKwonDo curriculum, age specific classes and direct instruction from the same two Masters every week.

Early Learners

Confidence Through Participation

Preschool and early elementary students learn how to listen, follow directions and complete achievable physical challenges in a welcoming class built for their age.

Elementary and Middle School

Structure That Rewards Effort

Students from schools such as McKinley Elementary, Kimball Middle and Larsen Middle can strengthen focus, self control and resilience through regular practice.

High School

Goals With Meaning

Students from Elgin High, Larkin High, St. Edward and other Elgin schools can pursue practical self defense and earned rank progress under experienced adult Masters.

Blackhawk TaeKwonDo is an independent martial arts school and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any school or early childhood program referenced above. All classes are held at our Carpentersville school.

What changes—and what stays consistent

A training path built around development

Programs are separate because students’ needs change. The standards behind them do not.

Stage Primary teaching focus How progress is supported
Preschool Participation, coordination and learning the structure of class Short directions, repetition and attainable early successes
Kids & Teens Discipline, technical skill, resilience and responsible independence Clear correction, progressive challenges and earned advancement
Adults Technique, conditioning, mobility, confidence and practical growth Adult-level coaching that begins at the student’s current ability

Across every stage: classes remain traditional, expectations remain clear, rank must be earned and the Masters remain directly involved in teaching.

Experience the appropriate program

Schedule an Elgin-area trial week

A single visit shows the room. A full week shows the teaching. Your trial gives the student time to understand the class rhythm, respond to coaching and experience more than one moment on the mat.

We prefer new students to begin on Monday whenever possible. New children may be paired with a student mentor when practical, and a parent or guardian remains onsite during every child’s trial class.

Three steps to begin

  1. Choose the program that matches the student’s age.
  2. Submit the trial request so we can confirm the appropriate class.
  3. Experience a complete week before making an enrollment decision.

Before the first class

  • Arrive about 10 minutes early.
  • Use the front double doors.
  • Wear a T-shirt and athletic pants.
  • No shorts, tank tops, yoga pants or leggings.
  • Bring water.
  • Choose the student’s correct age group.

Questions from Elgin families

Know how the school works before you visit

Is Blackhawk TaeKwonDo located in Elgin?

No. Blackhawk operates one school at 2333 Randall Road in Carpentersville. This page helps Elgin families evaluate that location and its programs without suggesting that we have an Elgin branch.

Can children and adults from the same family train at Blackhawk?

Yes. Blackhawk offers programs for preschoolers, kids, teens and adults. The programs are separate because each age group needs a different pace and teaching approach, but family members can belong to the same school community.

What happens when a child grows into the next age group?

The Masters evaluate readiness and help the student transition into the program that fits the next stage. The class structure may change, but the traditional curriculum, school standards and direct Master instruction remain consistent.

Who teaches the classes?

Grandmaster Anthony Iannone and Master Cristina Iannone personally teach every class. Teen students and rotating junior instructors do not run regular classes.

Do we have to enroll after the trial?

No. The trial lasts one full week and does not create an automatic membership. It is a chance for the family and the school to determine whether the program is a good fit.

How should an Elgin family evaluate the drive?

Check the route from your actual starting address because travel time varies across Elgin and changes with traffic. Then use the trial week to decide whether the route and class schedule create a routine your household can sustain.
