A nearby school with steady leadership

A comfortable beginning matters

Walking into a martial arts school for the first time can feel like a big step—especially for a quiet child, a beginner who has never trained, or an adult returning to exercise. We make that first step clear and manageable.

Classes at Blackhawk are personally taught by Grandmaster Anthony Iannone and Master Cristina Iannone. Students see the same experienced leaders setting expectations, correcting technique and encouraging progress. We do not hand regular classes to teen instructors or rotate beginners among junior teachers.

Blackhawk is physically located at 2333 Randall Road in Carpentersville, not in Sleepy Hollow. This page is for nearby Sleepy Hollow families deciding whether our school, teaching style and weekly routine are the right fit.

From first arrival to a steady routine

What your trial week is designed to answer

A free trial should do more than introduce a few kicks. It should help your family understand how the school operates and whether the student feels supported.

1

Before class

We help you choose the age-appropriate program and explain what to wear, what to bring and what to expect.

2

First arrival

The student is welcomed into the room. When practical, a child may be paired with a student mentor so the first class feels less unfamiliar.

3

During the week

You see how our Masters teach, how expectations are communicated and how the student responds to structure and encouragement.

4

After the trial

You decide whether Blackhawk fits your goals and routine. There is no automatic enrollment and no pressure to make a rushed decision.

Sleepy Hollow family questions

Questions before your first class

Is Blackhawk TaeKwonDo located in Sleepy Hollow?

No. Blackhawk has one physical school at 2333 Randall Road in Carpentersville. We welcome families from Sleepy Hollow and other nearby communities, but we clearly identify our actual location.

How do you help a child who feels nervous about starting?

We explain the first visit, welcome the student into an age-appropriate class and, when practical, pair a new child with a student mentor. The same Masters remain responsible for the class, so the student is not passed between unfamiliar instructors.

Who teaches the classes?

Classes are personally taught by 7th Dan Grandmaster Anthony Iannone and 4th Dan Master Cristina Iannone. Regular instruction is not handed to teen instructors or rotating junior staff.

Does a parent need to stay during a child’s trial?

Yes. A parent or guardian stays onsite during a child’s trial. The separate parent lounge offers a comfortable place to remain without disturbing the class.

What should a student wear and bring?

Wear a T-shirt and comfortable athletic pants. Please do not wear shorts, tank tops, yoga pants or leggings. Bring water. We will explain anything else needed before the first class.

What if we are unsure the weekly routine will work?

That is one reason we offer a full trial week. It gives your family time to evaluate the instruction, the trip to our Carpentersville school and how training fits into the rest of the week before making an enrollment decision.
